Totem Sculpture if our City (Symbols of the city, people and groups)

The term totem is a symbol (real or abstract) representative of a culture or divine character who aimed to protect and care the members of a society. Sometimes they depict animals and sometimes people, but they can also be mixed. We propose a Town Sculptural Totem to protect, shelter and represent us through values, histories and traditions. In other words,  to show the identity of a group of people in a particular location and/or time and space. This work stems from the need to understand the importance of identity and ownership of the spaces we share.

To build this TOTEM we can use boxes, paper and colored paints, glue, wool, much joy, playfulness and proposing ideas. First we analyze the shapes of the boxes and we ask: how we look like in the TOTEM?, what we wanted to represent?, What is missing in the TOTEM?, What we proposed? And How it moves? (houses, buildings, animals, people, nature, things, etc., all elements that inhabit and are part of the city). Then the children give life and characterized using colors, different shapes and textures to be cheerful, fun and peculiar. This activity first allowed individual work, but then must necessarily be a dynamic group work, encouraging collaboration, participation, joint development for a common purpose, understanding that often we have to give, learn to listen to other ideas, propose, decide as a team and realize a project in this case the TOTEM SCULPTURE OF OUR CITY that is representing all participants.

Totem  Escultórico  de Nuestra Ciudad

(Los símbolos de la ciudad,  de las personas, de los grupos)

El término tótem es normalmente utilizado para designar a un símbolo  (real o abstracto) representante de una cultura o personajes divinos  que  tenían como  objetivo  proteger y cuidar  a los miembros de una  sociedad.  A veces representan animales y a  veces personas pero también se pueden mezclar. Proponemos un TOTEM ESCULTORICO DE LA CIUDAD que nos proteja, nos cobije,  nos cuide, nos represente  a través de valores, historias y tradiciones, es decir que proponga la  identidad de un  grupo de personas en un  determinado lugar y/o espacio y tiempo. Este trabajo  nace a partir de la necesidad  de entender la importancia de la identidad y la apropiación  de  los espacios  que compartimos.

Para construir este TOTEM utilizamos cajas,  papeles y pinturas de  colores, pegamento, lanas,  mucha alegría, ganas de  jugar y de  proponer ideas. Primero  analizamos  las formas de las  cajas  y  jugando  nos preguntamos a ¿Qué se nos parecía? y ¿Qué queríamos representar?  ¿Qué le faltaba? Y ¿Qué proponíamos? ¿Cómo se  movía?  (casas, edificios, animales, personas, naturaleza, cosas, etc., todos elementos que habitan y son parte de la ciudad). Luego se les dio  vida y representatividad  utilizando los colores, diversas  formas y texturas para que  fuese alegre, divertido y propio. Actividad que permitió primero el trabajo individual pero luego necesariamente el trabajo  se tornó grupal incentivando  la colaboración , la participación, la creación conjunta para un fin común, se trabajó el entender  que   muchas  veces  hay que  ceder, aprender a escuchar  otras ideas  y también proponer,  saber decidir en equipo para llegar a concretar un proyecto en este caso  el TOTEM ESCULTÓRICO DE NUESTRA CIUDAD  que  representa a todos los participantes.

– ¡Qué montón  de  cosas podemos contar  de nuestra  historia en un  Totem!

– ¡Nosotros  y  nuestra  ciudad en una escultura!

– ¡Somos un Totem!

– ¡Todos deberían ver este TOTEM  cuando visiten nuestra ciudad así  nos conocerán mejor!

GURE HIRIAREN TOTEM ESKULTORIKOA

(Hiriaren, pertsonen, taldeen sinboloak)

Normalean totem hitza erabiltzen dugu kultura baten sinbolo bat (erreala edo abstraktua) izendatzeko, edo jainkozko pertsonaien sinboloa, eginkizuntzat zutena gizarte bateko kideak babestu eta zaintzea. Batzuetan, animaliak irudikatzen dituzte; beste batzuetan, pertsonak, baina nahasi ere egin daitezke. HIRIAREN TOTEM ESKULTORIKO bat proposatzen dugu, babestuko gaituena, aterpetu, zaindu, eta balioen, historien eta tradizioen bidez ordezkatuko gaituena; hau da, pertsona talde baten identitatea proposatuko duena, leku eta denbora jakin batean. Hori horrela, lan honen jatorrian, premia bat dago: hots, partekatzen ditugun espazioen identitateak eta haietaz jabetzeak duten garrantzia ulertzeko premia.

TOTEM hau eraikitzeko, erabili genituen kutxak, paperak, koloretako margoak, itsasgarria, artilea… poz handia, eta jolasteko eta ideiak proposatzeko gogoa. Hasteko, kutxen formak aztertu genituen, eta jolasean geure buruari galdetu genion: Zeren antza zuen? Zer irudikatu nahi genuen? Zer falta zitzaion? Zer proposatzen genuen? Nola mugitzen zen? (etxeak, eraikinak, animaliak, pertsonak, izadia, gauzak, etab., den-denak hirian bizi diren eta haren parte diren elementuak). Gero, bizia eman zitzaien, eta adierazkortasuna, koloreak, formak eta testurak erabilita, pozgarria, dibertigarria eta berezkoa izan zedin. Jarduera honen bidez, bakarka egin genuen lan lehenbizi, baina gero, talde lana bihurtu zen nahitaez, lankidetza, partaidetza eta baterako sorkuntza sustatuta, helburu komun bati begira, azkenean ulertzera iristeko askotan amore eman behar izaten dela, beste ideia batzuk entzuten ikasi, eta proposatu ere bai, taldean erabakitzen jakin, proiektu bat zehaztera iristeko: kasu honetan, GURE HIRIAREN TOTEM ESKULTORIKOA, parte hartzaile guztiak ordezkatzen dituena.
