CCA’s Educational Programs forge links between architectural thinking and practice, the history of ideas, and changing social and cultural conditions. Programs are both local and international in scope. They present a myriad of architectural ideas to the wider public at all age-levels as well as to architects and scholars, aiming to reveal the richness of architectural and urban culture and to stimulate dynamic engagement with contemporary issues and debates.

CCA’s Educational Programs offer well-researched programs that through various activities facilitate conversations about the built environment and contemporary topics in architecture and its related fields. The AEO was designed with these same ideas in mind. The AEO, or Architecture Exploration Origami, was created especially for AMAG Magazine. Taking the well-known form of a paper fortune teller (also known as a “cootie catcher” or, as we say in Montreal, a “coin-coin”), the AEO invites kids and adults alike to explore their environment. With the AEO anyone can investigate any space through sound, touch, body movements, and design challenges. The AEO encourages an interaction between the players and a site of their choice that otherwise may not occur. With this paper game participants are able to observe and analyze the space in a fun and collaborative way (or on their own!). The AEO was developed considering the following questions: How do you engage with a space? How does it engage with you? How can you use all your senses to explore a space? What are the limits of exploring a space? Are there emotions associated with a given space? How do shapes, lines, light, colors, and design convey emotion?

The AEO is a handy tool that can easily be brought and used in any space, anywhere in the world. And, it fits in your pocket too!

OEA, Origami para Explorar la Arquitectura

Los Programas Educativos del CCA establecen enlaces entre el pensamiento arquitectónico y la práctica, la historia de las ideas, y las cambiantes condiciones sociales y culturales. Los programas son de alcance local e internacional. Presentan una mirada de ideas arquitectónicas a un público amplio y de todas las edades, así como a arquitectos y académicos. Quieren revelar la riqueza de la cultura arquitectónica y urbana, y estimular el compromiso dinámico con temas y debates contemporáneos. Los Programas Educativos del CCA ofrecen temas bien investigados. A través de varias actividades, facilitan la conversación sobre el entorno construído, temas de arquitectura contemporánea y campos relacionados con ella.

El OEA ha sido diseñado con estas ideas en mente. El OEA, o el Origami para Explorar la Arquitectura, ha sido creado especialmente para la revista AMAG!. A partir de la conocida figura de papel “el adivino de fortuna” (también conocido en inglés como “cootie catcher” o, como decimos en Montreal, a “coin-coin”), el AEO invita a niños y adultos a explorar su entorno. Con el OEA todos podemos investigar cualquier espacio a través del sonido, tacto, movimiento del cuerpo y retos de diseño. El OEA facilita una interacción entre los jugadores y el entorno elegido, que de otro modo no existiría. Con este juego de papel los participantes pueden observar y analizar el espacio de un modo divertido y en colaboración (¡o solos!). El OEA ha sido diseñado considerando las siguientes cuestiones: ¿Cómo nos relacionamos con el espacio? ¿Cómo el espacio se relaciona contigo? ¿Cómo puedes usar todos tus sentidos para explorar el espacio? ¿Cuáles son los límites al explorar el espacio? ¿Hay emociones asociadas a determinados espacios? ¿Cómo transmiten emoción las formas, líneas, luz, colores y el diseño?

El OEA es una herramienta útil que puedes llevar fácilmente y usarla en cualquier espacio, en cualquier parte de mundo. Y además…¡entra en tu bolsillo!

AAO, Arkitektura Aztertzeko Origamia

CCAren Hezkuntza Programek pentsamendu arkitektonikoaren, jardunaren, ideien historiaren eta etengabe aldatzen ari diren gizarte eta kultura baldintzen arteko loturak ezartzen dituzte. Programak, hain zuzen, tokikoak zein nazioartekoak dira. Ideia arkitektonikoetan oinarritutako begirada eskaintzen diete adin guztietako pertsonei, arkitektoei zein akademikoei. Kultura arkitektonikoaren eta hiri kulturaren aberastasuna nabarmendu nahi dute, eta aldi berean, gai eta eztabaida garaikideekin, konpromiso dinamikoa indartu. CCAren Hezkuntza Programek ondo ikertutako gaiak eskaintzen dituzte. Hainbat jardueraren bitartez, eraikitako inguruari, arkitektura garaikidearekin lotutako gaiei eta harekin uztartutako arloei buruzko elkarrizketa bideratzen dute.

AAO, beraz, ideia horiek buruan edukita diseinatutakoa da. AAO (Arkitektura Aztertzeko Origamia), hain justu, AMAG! aldizkarirako propio sortutakoa dugu. “Zorte-igarlea” paperezko irudi ezagunetik abiatuta (ingelesez, “cootie catcher”, eta Montrealen, “coin-coin”), haurrei zein helduei euren ingurua aztertzeko gonbita egiten die AAOk. AAOri esker, soinuaren, ukimenaren, gorputzaren mugimenduaren eta diseinu erronken bitartez, zeinahi espazio aztertu ahal izango du edonork. AEOk jokalarien eta aukeratutako inguruaren arteko elkarreragina bultzatzen du; beste modu batean posible izango ez zena. Paper bidezko jolas honekin, parte-hartzaileek modu atseginean behatu eta aztertu ahal izango dute espazioa; nola lankidetzan, hala bakarka. AAO diseinatzean, kontuan hartu dira honako galdera hauek: Nola jartzen gara harremanetan espazioarekin? Espazioa nola jartzen da harremanetan zurekin? Nola erabil ditzakezu zure zentzumen denak espazioa aztertzeko? Zein dira mugak espazioa aztertzean? Badago espazio jakin batzuekin lotura duen emoziorik? Nola igortzen dute emozioa formek, lerroek, argiak, koloreek eta diseinuak berak?

Azken batean, oso tresna erabilgarria da AAO, erraz eraman, eta munduko zeinahi txokotako edozein espaziotan erabiltzeko modukoa. Eta gainera… sakelan sar dezakezu!
